About The 100

The 100 is a post-apocalyptic science fiction television series developed by Jason Rothenberg. It premiered in 2014 and follows humanity's attempt to survive after a nuclear catastrophe has devastated Earth.

The story initially focuses on the survivors living aboard the Ark, a collection of space stations that became humanity's home after the disaster. When the Ark's resources and life-support systems become increasingly limited, 100 juvenile prisoners are sent to Earth to determine whether the planet is habitable.

The return to Earth introduces the young prisoners to dangers they were never prepared for, as well as communities of people who survived the apocalypse. Clarke Griffin, Bellamy Blake, Octavia Blake, Raven Reyes, Murphy and other characters become central to the conflicts that follow.

Over seven seasons, the series expands beyond the original conflict on Earth into new locations, societies and threats. The quiz therefore covers more than the show's early survival story, including major developments involving the Ark, Grounders, Mount Weather, Praimfaya, Sanctum and Bardo.

Murphy is one of the original 100. His character changes considerably throughout the series, and his relationships with the other survivors make him relevant to several major storylines.

The Grounders

The Grounders are descendants of people who survived on Earth after the nuclear apocalypse. Their clans, customs, leaders and conflicts with the people from the Ark become central to the middle portion of the series.

Important Story Elements

The Ark

The Ark is the space-based home of the survivors whose ancestors escaped the nuclear apocalypse. Limited resources and failing life-support systems eventually lead its leaders to consider sending the 100 to Earth.

Grounder Clans

The people who survived on Earth developed their own communities and cultures. The Grounder clans become one of the most important political and military forces encountered by the characters.

Mount Weather

Mount Weather becomes a major location and source of conflict after the 100 encounter another surviving community. The facility's resources, inhabitants and plans create one of the series' major conflicts.

Praimfaya

Praimfaya refers to the catastrophic consequences of nuclear radiation and later environmental disasters that repeatedly threaten humanity's ability to survive on Earth.

Sanctum

Sanctum becomes the principal setting for a later stage of the series. Its inhabitants, political system, religious beliefs and unusual history introduce a different type of conflict from the earlier Grounder wars.

Bardo

Bardo becomes important during the final season. The location is connected to the Disciples and the larger conflict involving the mysterious Anomaly Stone and travel between worlds.

Conflict With the Grounders

Contact with the Grounders develops into a major conflict involving territory, resources, leadership and attempts at cooperation. The relationship between the two groups changes repeatedly as new threats appear.

Mount Weather

The discovery of Mount Weather introduces another surviving human population and creates a conflict involving the 100, the Mountain Men and the future of both communities.

The Second Nuclear Apocalypse

Later events force the survivors to confront another catastrophic threat to Earth's habitability. This changes where the characters can live and contributes to the transition between several major settings.

Sanctum and the Anomaly

Later seasons introduce Sanctum and eventually expand the story beyond a single planet. The Anomaly, the Disciples and Bardo become important to the final storyline.
